I was tagged on Facebook to divulge my top 10 favorite albums of all time. Since I haven’t written a blog post with a topic outside the writing realm in ages, I figured I’d slap something together for Dark Randomosity for the whole world to see. (Or just my 20 subscribers. Whatevs.)

1: (TIE) Korn’s Follow the Leader

Fuck – what an album! This kick-started a new era for me in my late teens and has influenced my listening choices since then. They’ll never be able to outdo this one, especially with their new-age dubstep crap.

1: (TIE)  System of a Down’s Toxicity

Toxicity was my first introduction to Serj and the rest of the SoaD Armenians, and they remain my favorite band of all time. Come on – you can’t deny singing and screaming along to “Chop Suey” or “Aerials”! All of their work is pure gold, but this album defines them best.

2: Godsmack’s Godsmack

Though Sully has a reputation of having Short-Man Syndrome, he still knows how to rock the mic, yo. This album in particular had darker roots and elements horror fans can appreciate.

3: Disturbed’s The Sickness

Disturbed is still whipping up new, exciting songs, and have become a staple in the rock industry. The Sickness has to be one of their most reputable albums ever, and we’re all better for it.

4: Limp Bizkit’s Significant Other

Though Three Dolla Bill, Y’all$ got them onto the scene, Significant Other truly put Fred and the rest of LB on the map. Talk all the shit you want – this was an amazing album.

5: Nirvana’s Nevermind

Cobain’s screeching, scratchy voice still sends shivers down my spine. Whether you liked him or hated him, you can’t deny the legacy he left behind.

6: Sublime’s Sublime

This had most of their most-recognized work on it, and the bumping, thumping tracks still rattle my windows on a nice summer day. One of the best pot-smoking albums of all time!

7: Slipknot’s Iowa

Though this isn’t their most famed album, I recall listening to Iowa while strung out on meth, coke, and whatever else I could poison my body with, and it left a lasting impression. Dark and edgy, with just enough of Taylor’s amazing vocal range to leave you wanting to become an official Maggot.

8: Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory

Another new-age classic album! Chester and crew took the rock world by force with their style and relatable lyrics, which have proven more haunting since Chester’s death.

9: Avenged Sevenfold’s City of Evil

When I first heard “Beast and the Harlot”, I immediately went out and bought City of Evil in its entirety. I’ve been an A7X fan ever since. Most of their videos are to die for, they continue to pump out quality, theatrical songs, and I hear they rock the crowd at concerts.
